FAME collaborated with Sydney University and others on a project to stop the spread of the introduced cane toad on its southern front. The cane toad has a very destructive effect on wildlife and may drive some species to extinction if not controlled.
Cane Toad
The Project
FAME funded researchers at the University of Sydney who were studying the theory that predators exposed to smaller non-lethal Cane Toads will learn not to eat them after becoming sick from eating one or two. This will mean the predators who have learned not to the Cane Toads will avoid the larger lethal Cane Toads when the Cane Toad invasion front reaches them.
