SPECIES: Pachycephala rufogularis — Red-lored Whistler
CLASSIFICATION: Vulnerable
The Red-lored Whistler is one of nine species of Australian Whistler birds. Secretive and shy by nature, this in itself can make them quite difficult to observe, they are found in pockets of NSW, Victoria and SA in low mallee woodland or shrubland. Loss of habitat (clearing, degradation, fragmentation), fire and predation by foxes and cats are threatening the remaining populations.
