SPECIES:
Common Mistfrog (Litoria rheocola)

CLASSIFICATION:
Endangered

Common it is not, on the contrary, the Common Mistfrog is listed as Endangered on the threatened species list. A characteristic of this little frog is its single note call, rather than repeated 'ridip'. Usually found on rocks and vegetation in a rainforest setting, it can comfortably live over 1000m above sea level. Sadly, this native species has now disappeared from most sites above 400m. Much of the decline is due to the fatal chytrid fungus, which has devastated Australia's native frog populations.
