SPECIES: Acacia blayana — Blay's Wattle

CLASSIFICATION: Critically endangered

With the start of spring nearly upon us, which coincides with National Wattle Day on September 1, this week we profile this beauty – Blay’s Wattle – now listed as critically endangered. Blay’s Wattle, native to south eastern Australia can grow up to 25m tall. It’s a relatively newly described Acacia species, formally named in 1990, and is only found on the eastern side of the Great Dividing Range at Wadbilliga National Park, growing in steep mountainous country. What a beauty.
