SPECIES: Limosa limosa — Black-tailed Godwit

CLASSIFICATION: Endangered

With a preference to coastal regions around Australia, the endangered Black-tailed Godwit is a large migratory shorebird. Featuring a small head and a long neck, a straight or slightly curved bill and very very long legs, the species nests in short vegetation on the ground. The biggest issues for the Black-tailed Godwit are habitat loss and degradation and disturbance due to human activites - including recreation and fishing.
